Private, shared, or public: picking capsule visibility

Not every memory belongs on a public feed. TimeCapsule lets you control who can find a capsule and who can open it—they are related, but not always the same.

Private by default energy

If a capsule is just for you, keep it private. It stays in your archive until unlock. No Discover listing, no stranger with a link.

Shared with intention

Invites and access codes are for people you choose: a partner, a class, a future family member. You can still keep the capsule off Discover so it is only reachable by people who have the path or code.

Public on Discover

Public capsules can appear on Discover—a living feed of messages sealed for later. Use this when you want strangers to stumble on something hopeful, artistic, or communal.

Tips for public seals:

• Write a clear title and description (they show before unlock)
• Avoid secrets, passwords, or other people’s private data
• Remember: public means crawlable and shareable

Some advanced options let you tune discoverability separately from openness. If you are unsure, start private, seal one capsule, then try a public one when you are ready.
