Cookie Policy
This policy explains how TimeCapsule uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use the service.
Last updated · August 21, 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and session tokens used to keep you signed in and remember preferences.
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you signed in securely (session authentication)
- Remember capsule access/view sessions where required
- Remember UI preferences such as light/dark theme
- Protect the Service against abuse and support security
- Understand basic reliability of the Service (operational logs)
3. Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
Required for core features such as authentication, security, and capsule access flows. The Service cannot function properly without these.
- Session cookie — authenticates your logged-in account
- Capsule access / view cookies — remember verified access for protected capsules when applicable
Preferences
- Theme preference — stores light/dark mode choice in local storage (
tc-theme)
Analytics
- Google Analytics 4 — when enabled on the production site, Google may set cookies / similar identifiers to measure traffic and usage. IP anonymization is requested where supported. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Third-party (only if you use the feature)
- Google Sign-In — Google may set cookies when you authenticate with Google. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
4. Advertising cookies
TimeCapsule does not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site marketing cookies. Analytics (when enabled) is used for product and traffic measurement, not ad targeting. If that changes, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.
5. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings (block, delete, or alert on cookies). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in and other core features from working.
You can clear local preference storage (such as theme) from your browser’s site data controls.
6. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices change. Check the “Last updated” date on this page for the latest version.
