This policy explains what information TimeCapsule collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are
TimeCapsule (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the service at https://locker.timecapsule.company, a digital time-capsule platform for sealing messages and files until a chosen unlock date.

2. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address and password (if you sign up with email)
- Google account email, name, and profile photo when you use Google Sign-In
- Optional display name, public handle, and avatar
Capsule and content data
- Titles, descriptions, tags, visibility settings, unlock dates, and other capsule metadata you provide
- Messages and files you upload (stored encrypted while sealed, as described in product docs)
- Comments, likes, bookmarks, follows, and similar interactions
- Themes, cover images, and profile-related media you upload
Technical and usage data
- Session and authentication cookies
- Approximate device/browser information and IP address as processed by our hosting provider for security and reliability
- Access logs needed to operate, secure, and debug the service
3. How we use information
- Create and authenticate your account
- Store, lock, unlock, and deliver capsules according to your settings
- Show public Discover content and profiles you choose to make public
- Send transactional emails (verification, password reset, invites)
- Enforce our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy
- Secure the service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where applicable, we process personal data on these bases:
- Contract — to provide the service you request
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, product improvement
- Consent — where required (for example certain cookies or optional features)
- Legal obligation — when the law requires it
6. Retention
We keep account and capsule data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Sealed content remains stored until unlock, deletion, or expiry rules you configure (where available). Backup and log data may persist for a limited period for security and continuity.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data subject to legal retention needs and content still required for shared/public capsules where applicable.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and sealed-content encryption for capsule payloads. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and protect your devices.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete data or restrict processing
- Object to certain processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based

9. Children
TimeCapsule is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our hosting providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of TimeCapsule after changes means you accept the updated policy.
